More than two years after separating, David Arquette and Courteney Cox have filed for divorce, with each filing their own paperwork on June 8 in the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Both cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the divorce and requested joint legal and physical custody of their 8-year-old daughter Coco. The 47-year-old actress also requested to officially drop Arquette from her last name.
Arquette, 40 and Cox seem to have had an amicable split. She was often spotted in the audience during his run on Dancing with the Stars and in January, she told PEOPLE, “He’s my favorite person in the world. He’s my best friend. No matter what happens in our future, he’s my very best friend.”
The couple, who met on the set of the 1996 slasher film Scream, married three years later in June 1999.
