We share a birthday, you and I …I’ve always identified with your strong personality and intense mission for change. Your tendency towards sarcasm and distaste for willful ignorance are also attractive to me. But, Hillary, I am the choir and I’m already singing with you. I know you know winning elections is about connection. People need to feel like they know, understand and can trust you. You TELL about needing more love and kindness but, it’s time to SHOW. It’s time to get US moms behind you — to bring out your ‘mama bear’ ….it’s time to learn a few lessons from Sarah Palin.
Governor Palin famously and publicly stood up for her kids. She said that when her kids are at risk, “the mama grizzly bear in me comes out, makes me want to rear up on my hind legs and say, ‘wait a minute!” She immediately gained the support of millions of moms who feel exactly the same way.
YOU’RE THE MAMA GRIZZLY BEAR FOR ALL WOMEN AND CHILDREN!
Remember when you informed your law firm in 1980 that you would be taking four months off to care of Chelsea? And how the firm then established a family leave policy?
Remember how building Chelsea’s character and love for service were top priorities for you? You have been a force for community service and being “change” in our world simply by taking Chelsea out to serve regularly as a child and creating a habit that she is now passing onto Charlotte.
Remember when you offered your daughter a (relatively) normal life – though she was twelve years old when you entered the White House for the first time? You made it clear that the media was to leave Chelsea alone. You protected her passionately. And, you kept her out of the public eye so there was nothing to see.
Hockey Mom this!! Palin relentlessly expressed how engaged in real life she was. The woman was on the PTA for goodness sake. “What’s the difference between a hockey mom and a Pitbull? Lipstick.”
MOM? PITBULL? SOUNDS A LOT LIKE HILLARY CLINTON! AND …YOU WERE A SOCCER MOM, TOO!
You’ve doggedly pursued girl’s and women’s rights – not only for your own child but, for the world’s children. When you said that “Human rights are women’s rights and women’s rights are human rights” in 1995, it lit a fire that you’ve been stoking for decades. You’ve yelled it from a mountain top and you’ve quietly intervened – as with the Saudi Arabian courts when helping block the marriage of an 8-year old girl to a 50-year old man.
And health care …YES …let me get you started on this …how do you overcome Bernie Sanders relentless promises to make undeliverable change? Talk about when you began talking about universal health care and how that was an important catalyst for Obamacare which has only just begun to do what it needs to because THINGS TAKE TIME ….and you were here in the early days and will see things through for as long as you are able.
YOU’RE A GRANDMA!! Yeah – an abuela like in your ads but, also a real, live grandma.
We don’t need to see Charlotte – or at least not a lot of her but, you should talk about your familyEvery. Single. Day. Chelsea headlined Disney Junior’s “Get a Book, Get a Book” event last year and talked about how much you read to her as a child and your mutual love for books. Say it every time you have the opportunity. I am a real live, human mother and grandmother. I love my daughter and granddaughter … I want the best for them AND FOR YOU AND YOUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN TOO!! … and THIS IS HOW I’LL DO IT.
Sarah Palin wants to know “How’s that hopey, changey thing working for you now?”
Please, tell true stories about YOU and your family. There’s no need to make things up. Your staff likes you. Your family likes you. You’re fun to be around. Your life’s work is a commitment to change that begins only with hope. Right? Prove it.
