How to Get Fuller Lips
Stars such as Angelina Jolie and Megan Fox have brought full, plump lips into the spotlight. If you covet fuller lips, there are many ways to either fake the look or make your lips semi-permanently plump, and you can get the look without going broke, too. So get out your mirror and decide just how plump you want your future lips to be.
Step 1
Use a brighter shade of lipstick. Dark colors make objects look smaller because dark colors absorb light. Using a lighter, brighter color will make your lips look fuller, even if they aren’t, because light, bright colors reflect light. For the same reason, make sure that your lip liner is a lighter shade, as well.
Step 2
Rub your lips with menthol, red peppers, ginger, jalapeño juice, cinnamon or camphor. These products irritate the skin on the lips, which makes them swell. This will cause your lips to plump temporarily. You will probably have to reapply every hour or two.
Step 3
Use a lip balm or gloss that contains retinol. Retinol encourages the natural growth of collagen in the lips, making them plumper and more luscious. Many of these types of lip glosses and creams can be found in your local department store in the makeup aisle. These products will cause your lips to plump temporarily. You will probably have to reapply every hour or two. Follow the directions on the tube.
Step 4
See your cosmetic surgeon for collagen injections. Lip injections can last from four to six months with touch-ups every few months, so this is a more long-term solution for plumper lips. The collagen is injected with a needle after a local anesthetic is applied. This is usually an outpatient procedure.
Warnings
- Using menthol, red peppers, ginger, jalapeño juice, cinnamon, or camphor on your lips may cause a burning sensation and some redness. Use with caution.
