Baby Skin Care

Cleanse, hydrate and protect baby’s delicate skin

Daily Hygiene
Practical advice on baby’s daily hygiene.

* Always wash your hands before starting to cleanse baby’s skin.
* Cleanse the face and hands as many times as necessary during the day. For the face use a cleansing fluid which does not require any rinsing. Use a cotton ball or pad to apply. For the hands use wipes. Keep skin hydrated with a moisturizer.
* Cut baby’s nails regularly using scissors with rounded ends. Only cut the part of the nails which protrude.
* Baby’s skin is very delicate. Protect it with moisturizing products for the face or the body. If your baby’s skin is dry use products with cold cream.

Fragrance
Practical advice on perfuming your baby.

* It is recommended to always wash your hands before taking care of your baby.
* As for all products you are going to apply on your baby’s skin, it is important that the "eau de soin" is suitable for his or her delicate skin.
* You can perfume your baby’s clothes, bedding or pajamas with his favorite "eau de soin" so that it will make your baby feel good and fresh as it stimulates his senses.

Diaper Change
Practical advice on changing your baby.

Cleansing Baby’s bottom:

* Each time you change baby, gently cleanse his skin. You can cleanse baby by using wipes, and/or no-rinse cleansing fluid.
* For those who prefer to rinse with water, choose a cleansing gel or a super-fatted soap.
* Dry baby’s skin carefully, particularly in folds, to prevent any irritation. The skin must be clean and dry.

To protect baby’s fragile skin:

* When you have cleansed and dried baby, apply a thick layer of a zinc oxide-based protective cream to the diaper area to protect the skin from any chafing or irritation.
* In the event of diaper rash, leave baby’s diaper area open to the air as much as possible.

Bath Time
Practical advice for bathing your baby.

Preparation:

* Fill the bathtub with water at 98.6°F, to ensure comfort. Measure the temperature with a bath thermometer and prepare supplies in advance so that it is within reach.

In the bath:

* Hold baby firmly by placing one hand under the nape of the neck and shoulders and the other under the buttocks.
* Use soap-free cleansing gels to wash him.
* For dry skin, it is recommended to use products enriched with moisturizing agents that protect and nourish the skin.
* When washing baby’s scalp, hair should be washed using products specially formulated to not sting the eyes. Use a newborn shampoo that will allow you to wash your baby’s head with one hand and remove any cradle cap. For older babies, use a 2 in1 hair and body cleansing gel or a baby shampoo for hair untangling. Rinse baby, with warm water, making sure that the water is at the right temperature.
* Take baby out of the bath and wrap him quickly in a towel. Dry gently, without rubbing. Pay special attention to the diaper area and skin folds (thighs, armpits, neck, etc.).

After the bath:

* Moisturize your baby’s skin and gently massage his body with a body lotion.
* Use an alcohol free "eau de soin" to pleasantly perfume baby and to moisturize.

Skin Protection
Practical advice on protecting your baby’s skin.

* Ensure daily protection for baby’s skin using a light-textured moisturizing cream and a body lotion.
* For his lips and all sensitive, exposed areas of skin (cheeks, nose.), use a moisturizing stick.
* Cover exposed areas with a hat, scarf, mittens, to protect them from the cold weather and drying of the skin.
* The skin behind the ears is an area often forgotten but is often subject to redness or drying.
* Protection for baby’s skin should be enhanced by the daily use of appropriate, well tolerated skincare products, formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reaction, and tested under dermatological control.
