Holiday Party Makeup
The holiday season is in full swing! With all the holiday parties you have to go to, what better time to spruce up your holiday makeup looks? This time of year is perfect for trying out some new products and makeup looks that you normally wouldn’t wear in your day to day routine.
The classic red lip is always a festive look. When choosing a red lip color, I like to use a bright cherry red color on the lips. Russian Red lipstick from MAC and Dragon Girl Velvet Matte Lip Pencil from NARS are my two favorites. Revlon and MAC also make great long wear lipsticks with staying power. I like to keep the eye area pretty minimal when accentuating the lip area but since it is the holidays, try a few of my suggestions to make your holiday look shine. Adding a strip of false eyelashes or some perfectly placed individuals and then coating with two coats of mascara will give you the “WOW” effect. Instead of dark eye shadow, opt for something on the lighter side with a hint of shimmer or metallic shine. Another great way to add some shine, is to dab a little eye gloss or vaseline on the eye lid. If you are extra daring and really want to take it to another level, try adding a touch of fine glitter to the center of the eye lid. You don’t want to over do it and shine like a disco ball, so less is more with this look. For the face, make sure your base is perfectly blended into the neck area, add some cream blush to the apple of the cheeks and a hint of shimmer powder or cream to the cheek bones and set with a translucent powder. If you are afraid of going all the way with cherry red lipstick, try staining the lips with a berry stain and topping it off with some sheer red gloss.
