Former “Bachelor” Contestant Gia Allemand Dead in Apparent Suicide
Gia Allemand, who appeared on Season 14 of the reality show “Bachelor” to compete for Jake Pavelka’s heart, has died in an apparent suicide. She was 29 years old.
“While in her residency in New Orleans on Monday night, Ms. Allemand was found by her boyfriend, NBA basketball player Ryan Anderson, following an apparent suicide attempt,” her family said in a statement.
Anderson called 911 and Allemand was rushed to the hospital, where she was placed on life support.
“Due to a critical loss of brain and organ function, life support was withdrawn” on Wednesday, the statement continued. “Ms. Allemand passed away peacefully with her mother, boyfriend, and other lifelong friends by her side. As a practicing Christian, Gia did receive the sacrament of last rites.”
After reaching the final three on “Bachelor,” Allemand went on to take part in two seasons of “Bachelor Pad” and modeled for Maxim.
Many members of the Bachelor family, including Pavelka himself, shared emotional messages on Twitter:
