Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria Gives Birth to a Baby Girl
Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel welcomed their first child on Thursday – a little girl who will one day be queen.
The country celebrated the birth of the royal baby, who is second in line to the Swedish throne, with a 21-gun salute
The name of the newborn will be announced by her grandfather King Carl XVI Gustaf in the coming days. But her proud father has already shared some details with reporters at a news conference: Daniel said that his daughter was born at 4:26 a.m. and weighed in at 7 pounds, 3 oz.
“The Crown Princess feels radiant, she is so happy. Everything has been great,” he said. “As I walked down from the room the little princess rested on her mother’s chest, and seemed to have it very cozy, so it was hard to tear oneself away.”
34-year-old Victoria is first in line to the throne held by her father since 1973. She married Daniel, a commoner and her former personal trainer in June 2010.
