Although no incidents or injuries have been reported, Fiskars® has issued a recall on the SmartPower™ String Trimmer for about 2,200 units.
SmartPower™ String Trimmers pose burn, fire, and laceration hazards. The potential hazards are due to the engine vibration of the trimmer that causes wearing on the fuel line, leading to a propane fuel leak. The propane canister can also crack at the neck. In addition, high temperatures may destroy the Trimmers’ plastic cutting guard, causing it to fall off.
The string trimmers are sold at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service, and online at Amazon.com, Walmart.com, Powerequipmentdirect.com and SureSource.com. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Fiskars® to receive a full refund.
