The Best Ways to Remove Leg Hair Using Homemade Products

Shaving your legs daily or several times a week can be a pain. You risk accidentally slicing your skin or getting ingrown hairs from using an old, dirty or dull blade. Constantly replacing dull razor blades can get expensive and isn’t the most environmentally friendly solution. If you are sick of shaving and don’t want to wax or use a harsh depilatory, try a homemade hair remover.

Sugar Waxing

One of the best homemade ways to remove hair by applying a sugar paste to the legs. Body sugar or sugar waxing works the same way regular waxing does. You apply the sugar, smooth a piece of paper or cotton gauze over it and yank the hairs out by the root. Usually, it takes several weeks for the hair to begin to grow back. Some people claim that the hair grows back softer and thinner than before. The sugar wax is more environmentally friendly than regular hair removal wax, since it is made from all natural, biodegradable ingredients. You can make sugar wax by mixing 2 cups water, 1/4 cup lemon juice and 1/4 cup water together. Heat gently, letting the sugar dissolve, and form a sticky paste. Don’t let the sugar mixture boil. Let the paste cool before applying it to your legs.

Honey

You can use honey in place of granulated sugar in a paste. Mix 4 parts honey with 1 part lemon juice. Heat slightly, just to soften the honey. Smooth onto your legs and let sit for about 10 minutes, then pull with strips of gauze.

Egg White Mask

Egg whites mixed with a small amount of sugar and cornstarch form a paste that will remove hair from your legs. An egg white paste works the same way a sugar or honey paste does. It clings to your hair and yanks it from the roots when you pull it off. Make the paste by combining 1 tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch with one egg white. To double, simply add another egg white, 1 tbsp. sugar and 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch. Rub the mixture into your legs, and let sit. When the paste is dry, gently peel it off. If you have an sort of egg allergy, you may want to skip this treatment.
