Arts & Crafts Ideas for Love
A handmade gift is a great way to express your love. Tell your special someone just how deeply you care about him by pouring time and energy into a handmade craft or art project. This time, pass up the convenience or department store, and stop in the local craft store for all the supplies you’ll need to create a special, memorable gift.
Personal
Consider making a gift that reflects her taste or interests or displays the story of your relationship. For a simple gift, purchase a frame with multiple windows. Tuck pictures and mementos from throughout your relationship, such as the day you met, your first date, your engagement, your wedding or other special moments, into each window. You can also write a few love notes, and place them into a few windows. Make a similar gift with a small photo album. Fill the pages with small pictures and mementos.
Practical
Romantic gifts can be lovely, but not useful. Make your loved one a gift he can use time and time again. If she has an office space or home office, you can purchase a cork board or a magnetic board. Cover the board with a fabric, such as one with hearts or flowers. You can also make it personalized with fabric that has logos of a favorite team or pictures of a favorite animal. Purchase magnets for the magnet board or thumbtacks for the cork board. You can use a glue gun to attach a matching button or accessory. Write a little note to let her know how much she means to you; print your favorite photograph of the two of you. Attach these to the board with the magnet or thumbtacks; give her the extras to use for notes to herself, documents and other office papers.
Pretty
If jewelry is what your loved one desires, consider making something yourself. Contact your local community college to inquire about metalworking classes to make a ring for your loved one. Visit your local craft store to purchase jewelry wire and beads or gems. Talk with a staff person or ask about classes if you need some inspiration and guidance. Otherwise, purchase beads of colors and shapes your loved one would like. String together a bracelet or necklace. You can even include a charm or two of your loved one’s favorite item, object, animal or activity.
