New & Easy Hairstyles
If you are getting tired of your drab-looking, blah hairstyle, try some of the latest trends for a change. Your new hairstyle does not have to be complicated, especially if you have a busy schedule. You’ll be glad to know that some of the latest hair trends cater to busy women just like you. Pick one that will make you look good without a lot of maintenance.
Sassy Pixie Cut
The pixie cut came out with a new version in 2010, and even busy celebrities including Halle Berry and Sharon Stone took notice. Compared with the classic pixie of yesteryear, the sassy pixie has more texture. It capitalizes on the messy-hairstyle trend. Fortunately, you can pull off this hairstyle without spending a lot of time in front of the mirror. Start with a basic pixie cut by trimming your hair short, close to your head. The back should be just above the nape of your neck, and the hair surrounding the ears trimmed to expose them, leaving some hair for sideburns to frame your face. Make sure to cut your bangs at eyebrow level. Add layers all over your hair and create 1-inch spikes at the top of your head.
With a sassy pixie, daily maintenance is a breeze. You can get away with just washing and air-drying, after blotting excess water with towel. Applying leave-in conditioner and volumizing lotion will give your hair a lift. Running styling mousse through the layers and tousling your hair is enough to style for a formal occasion, similar to the way Halle Berry styled her hair for the 2010 Golden Globes ceremony.
Beachy Wave
A beachy wave will make a drab, flat hair look lively. Add layers to your hair from the back to the front to create a U or V shape. Then, apply sea salt-based wave enhancer to the ends of your towel-dried hair. Scrunch the ends of your hair, and let it dry naturally. Using a 3-inch barrel curling wand creates bigger curls. Wind each 2-inch section of your locks around the wand for up to 20 seconds each, and then release to reveal the curls. Run your fingers through the curls to loosen them a bit.
Another easy way to create a beachy wave is by applying leave-in conditioner to your damp hair, and then wrapping your hair into a bun. Wait for your hair to dry before releasing it to reveal your bouncy, beachy waves.
Messy Updo
A messy updo is the new updo for busy women. It is also a perfect camouflage for a bad hair day. You can accomplish a messy updo in less than five minutes. First, gather your day-old hair and tie it into a ponytail using a small elastic band. Tease the top of your hair with your fingers to give it a lift. Then, pull out your ponytail to make it tighter. Use a butterfly clip, and place it under the base of the ponytail. Gathering the ends of the ponytail and tucking them into the butterfly pin will create the bun. Pull out some strands out for a messy, but sexy, finish.
