Feng Shui Cures for Romance
The ancient Chinese philosophy of feng shui, which literally means, “wind water,” helps people live in harmony with their environment. Parts of feng shui make sense, such as the notion that living with nature benefits people more than going against it, but some aspects of feng shui can be a New Age scam. If you simply want to follow some feng shui principles, however, you may have success in improving the romance aspect of your life.
Smooth Flow of Chi
If you want to use feng shui to help your romance in the bedroom, you must create a smooth flow of chi, which is positive energy, according to the Fast Feng Shui website. If chi can move freely, you can have this positive energy flowing through your bedroom. Where chi is blocked, the energy will become stagnant, like a pond blocked with leaves and algae. If chi is blocked, matters of the heart will be low, according to feng shui philosophy.
Clear Out the Clutter
To get the chi flowing in your bedroom, you must clear out the clutter. Chi will be stuck in clutter. You want your bedroom to look inviting and be a kind of oasis to get the romance kindled again. Seeing a pile of laundry is not only unromantic, but it also blocks chi. While you are tidying up, clap your hands loudly around the bedroom to clear out the old energy, the Fast Feng Shui website suggests.
Attract a New Romance
To attract a new romance or to bump up a casual relationship up a notch, you must make room in your bedroom for your new partner. If your closets, dressers and shelves are filled to capacity, you have no room to let anyone else in. Clear out about 25 percent of your space and visualize your partner or future partner’s belongings there. When you decorate, keep items in pairs, such as two pillows side by side or a pair of candlesticks. If you have artwork in your bedroom, make sure the art has two people in it instead of one person, according to Feng Shui Web.
Remove Non-Romance Items
Remove items that have nothing to do with romance from your bedroom, such as weight lifting equipment, which brings the energy of hard work. Also, remove any items that have to do with past, failed relationships, such as photographs or clothes. The worst thing you can keep in your bedroom from a failed romance is old love letters, according to the Fast Feng Shui website. Take out anything that doesn’t lend itself to romantic energy with your partner. You should even remove a wartime photo of your brother from the bedroom, for example, because it carries wartime energy.
Bed Position
Position your bed so that there is equal space on both sides. If it is up against the wall, one person may feel confined in the relationship. The bed should be on the opposite side from the door but not directly in line with it. You should be able to see the door from the bed. If you can’t, hang a mirror so that you can. On the wall directly opposite from the bed, place something romantic, such as artwork, flowers, candles, or a statue of birds or cherubs.
Skeptics
Feng shui has become a kind of interior decorating function in the Western part of the world, according to the Skeptic’s Dictionary. So-called “masters” can charge people enormous amounts of money to tell you whether you need a green plant in your room, for example. New Age stores sell people alleged metaphysical products, such as paper cutouts of planets and half moons, that are supposed to improve your health and maximize your potential. The Skeptic’s Dictionary likens this kind of thing to a fortune cookie.
