Birthday Party Ideas for Mom

Whether you ignore it or not, your birthday will always come. Instead of avoiding that increase in age, take this opportunity to make it a celebration. Indulge in the pampering and love your family has to offer. In this way, you can turn an annoying wrinkle reminder into a chance to relax.

Planning

Your birthday can be almost as exciting for your kids as their own. Let them love on you by letting them get involved in the planning process. Let each child choose an activity, snack or gift. They can work together to create the decorations, such as signs or confetti.

Themes

Moms usually get their fill of clowns, bounce houses and balloons during all the parties they host and attend. Focus on quiet pampering for her birthday party. Make it a spa or beach theme with relaxing music and indulgent activities.

Guests

These parties should include your close friends or family members. Let your family member know which friends you would love to spend the day, and fill them in about which ones not to invite. Your husband or partner may not know which friends would put a damper on your day.

Snacks

Forget the diet. Treat yourself. Buy, or ask your family to make, a chocolate cake, tiramisu, cheesecake or your other favorite. If you are health conscious, ask that the pieces be cut small so you can indulge in fewer calories. Have salads, vegetables, fruits and other light snacks available at the party for guilt-free munching.

Gifts

When your kids or husband ask what you want for your birthday, avoid the tendency to say “I don’t know,” unless you want to end up with trinkets. Let them know specifically what you would enjoy. You can even mention how nice a massage gift card or other gift certificate would be. Guests may want to go in together to purchase such a gift.

Getaway

Don’t be afraid to take this opportunity to escape the routines of home. After a small party at home with the kids, request a night out on the town or a night away with your partner. Having a two-part celebration will give you a chance to enjoy time with your little loves and to get away for awhile.
