Body Beauty Tips
A beautiful body does not mean emptying your purse to pay for expensive (and sometimes painful) spa treatments. Sure, most women enjoy an occasional massage or facial, but there are many ways to make your body beautiful on the inside and on the outside, from the comfort of your home.
Face Forward
Put on a fresh face by practicing a daily regimen for caring for your face and eyes. Wash twice daily with a gentle cleanser designed for your skin type. Opt for a formula that states it’s for oily, dry or combination skin. If you have oily skin, select a toner to help eliminate excess oil. Select a light moisturizer you can apply to your skin in the morning and at night. A formula with SPF protection is ideal for the morning and will help protect your skin from sun damage. Keep your eyes sparkling by applying eye cream at least once a day. It helps reduce puffiness and can decrease the appearance of dark circles.
Treat Your Skin Like a Queen
After a hard day at the office or an afternoon spent chasing a toddler around, luxuriating in a warm bubble bath or a long hot shower is likely at the top of your to-do list. Before you slip into the bathroom for some alone time, consider your skin. The Mayo Clinic warns to limit the amount of time you spend in the bath tub and to keep the water temperature warm. Hot water and prolonged exposure to water can remove the essential oils your skin needs to stay radiant. After your shower or bath, smooth on moisturize to keep your skin soft and hydrated.
Fabulously Fit
You don’t have to be a slave to the gym to get the exercise you need for a beautiful body. Activities like taking a brisk walk in your neighborhood, a dip at the pool or joining a dance class can help tone your muscles, promote weight loss and prevent weight gain. Daily workouts, lasting at least 30 minutes, can help you stay energized, enjoy restful nights of sleep and reduce the risks of many conditions, such as heart disease.
Enjoy a Healthy Diet
If you’re snacking on ice cream and loading up on hot wings, you’re doing your body more harm than good. Not only can unhealthy eating habits lead to high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol, they can also morph your body, giving you excess weight around the middle, in the hips and butt areas.
For breakfast, try a fruit smoothie, egg for protein and whole-grain cereal. Plan your lunch in advance to avoid last minute “meals” from the vending machine at work. Fish and chicken paired with salads and other veggies are ideal for a light dinner. Snack on nuts, fruit and frozen yogurt.
