Beauty Tips for Eyebrow Shaping
At some point, you have seen them–eyebrows that look like they were put on with a permanent marker, so bushy that they make Albert Einstein’s look tame or so thin, they look nonexistent. You don’t want to make these mistakes. Properly shaped eyebrows enhance your facial features, frame your eyes and draw attention.
Hair Removal Technique
When shaping your eyebrows, use tweezers for the best control. Only pull out one hair at a time or you may end up with over-plucked brows. Pluck from the bottom of the brows, only removing the occasional stray hair on the top. Avoid using waxes, shaving or other methods that remove a lot of hair at once. Sketch an outline with an eyebrow pencil before you actually remove hairs to guide you.
Length
Hold a brow brush up to your nose, aligning it about mid-nostril. Start the inner part of your eyebrow at that line. It should line up about where your nose bridge meets your eyebrow. If you start at the outside of your nose, your brows will appear too far apart. Remove any hair between the two eyebrows. Your eyebrow should end at a diagonal from the outer corner of your eye to the outer, bottom edge of your nose.
The Arch
To create the perfectly placed arch, line it up to a diagonal line from the outside of your nostril to the outside of your pupil. This is the peak of the arch. Gently taper the brow in both directions to avoid a harsh look. Keep the inside and outside ends of your brow even.
Filling
Those who aren’t blessed with full, shapely eyebrows may need to fill in some areas. Using a filler also helps if you remove a few too many hairs. A powder and brush will give you the most natural look. Match the powder color to the color of your brows. Use short, sweeping strokes to fill thin areas. Don’t color outside the lines. It only emphasizes the lack of hair.
Finishing Touches
Comb, trim and set your brows for the final touch to gorgeous arches. Brush your brows up and then down. Using small, sharp scissors, trim any long hairs. Use a little hairspray on an eyebrow brush, clear mascara or eyebrow gel to hold the brows in place.
