BMW Recalls 350,000 Cars for Brake Problems
BMW is recalling 350,000 of its 2002–2010 luxury vehicles with V-8 and V-12 engines, as well as some Rolls-Royce models, because of a fault with the power-breaking system.
“In the affected vehicles, a leak may develop in the power braking system, potentially causing a vacuum loss and consequent reduction of power braking assistance,” said the company in a statement. However, mechanical braking is still available to slow and stop the vehicle, and no reports of injuries have been issued.
Globally, 348,000 BMWs are affected, but 198,000 are in the U.S.
The recalled models are:
• 2002-8 BMW 745i/Li, 750i/Li, and 760i/Li
• 2007-8 BMW Alpina B7
• 2004-10 BMW 645i and 650i
• 2004-10 BMW 545i and 550i
• 2003–10 Rolls-Royce Phantom
