How to Make a Foot Soak Recipe

While you can purchase a commercial foot soak at any local department or drugstore, the recipe to make your own foot soak calls for ingredients commonly found in most homes. With a few minutes and a peek into your kitchen cupboards and bathroom closet, you’ll likely have everything you need to make your own foot soak and enjoy a relaxing spa treatment in the comfort of your own home.

Step 1

Add 1 gallon of water to a large pot and bring it to a boil. Transfer the water to your foot basin to cool. To get the best results from your foot soak, the water should be as warm as you can stand.

Step 2

Add ¼ cup of Epsom salt to the hot water. The salty water will help reduce swelling and help rid your feet of toxins. Epsom salt is composed of magnesium, which has anti-inflammatory and stress-reducing properties, and sulfates, which help the body flush out toxins.

Step 3

Add into the mixture ¼ cup of baking soda. Baking soda has antibacterial properties and will kill off odor-causing bacteria. Baking soda helps eliminate odors by chemically neutralizing them. This means it doesn’t simply hide the odors, it truly removes them.

Step 4

Add 10 to 20 drops of essential oil to the foot soak. Choose your scented oil based on the experience you desire. If you’re looking for a relaxing foot soak recipe, choose lavender. If you’re looking for an invigorating recipe, choose peppermint.
