Disney Baby Room Ideas

Disney baby room ideas are innumerable. With a catalog of more than 100 films and tales to pull from, the difficulty is not finding Disney baby room ideas, but finding the one that appeals to the family tastes. Unfortunately, some Disney baby room ideas are harder to do than others, but that is directly related to the overproduction of some themes and the underproduction of others. Don’t be afraid to mix and match different Disney ideas when decorating the baby room. In fact, decorating each wall in a different theme is entirely eclectic and doable.

Mickey and the Gang

Choosing Mickey and the gang for a theme is pretty easy to do, particularly with the many different varieties of Mickey and the Gang out there including classic, baby, vintage and Tiki. The classic, despite its label, is the more modern Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in their standard colors and appearances. The vintage reaches back to the 1930s and ’40s Mickey, Donald and the gang. Baby Mickey and Minnie are softer, soft-formed cartoon versions of the classic Disney crew.
The advantage to classic and vintage Mickey and the Gang is that finding bedding, home décor accessories and stuffed animal decorations is pretty easy. Primary colors are the theme, so these decorations require no special updating. Decorative rugs, lamps and even blankets can dress up standard baby furniture. Add a few prints to the walls and a stuffed Mickey in the crib, and it is ready to go. Mickey and the Gang is entirely suitable for boys and girls, and ages well from infancy to young child.

Disney Princesses

The Princesses are classic Disney, but with a few modern editions. The princesses are suitable for all baby girls decorating ideas, but are heavy in the pink. From crib sheets to lamp shades to window treatments and pillows, decorating in Disney princesses is not hard. The standard princess decorations feature Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Cinderella, Snow White, Jasmine (Aladdin), Ariel (Little Mermaid) and Belle (Beauty and the Beast). Occasionally, some pieces feature Mulan and Pocahontas, but they are atypical princesses to find in the sets.
Pink is thematically the strongest color in the Princesses decorating theme, with yellow accents coming in a close second. Decorating a baby’s room in Disney princesses offers great opportunities for using movie prints, framed t-shirts and even princess dolls as room decorations. The rich use of pink means the crib sheets, pillows and blankets blend in better with oak or white baby furniture. Wall clings and borders can add to the general décor, but go for neutral-colored walls and carpet, and let the color come from the princess theme.

Toy Story

Of the Pixar options for baby decoration, Toy Story is the most apropos. The use of standard toys including alphabet blocks, dinosaurs and race cars mingled with the specialized items of Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear make Toy Story and Toy Story 2 solid choices for decorating a baby’s room. The thematic suite works for both boys and girls, particularly if Jessie is the focus for girls and Woody is the focus for boys.
The toys that come from Toy Story are soft by their nature and ideal for young children to play with. The Jessie and Woody dolls are a modern twist on an old classic of cowboys and Indians. Blue and red are the prominent colors in this decorating idea. Paint one wall a primary deep blue (no pastels) and leave the others a neutral shade. For boys, add Buzz Lightyear decorations and stars to the blue wall. For girls, add Jessie and Bullseye to the blue wall with a little red trim thrown in. Dark wood baby furniture works just fine with the Toy Story theme, and don’t feel limited to just Disney toys in this theme because Toy Story itself is about toys coming to life.

Other Disney Ideas

Disney baby room ideas are numerous and can easily fulfill multiple other theme type ideas. Dogs, for example, are a prominent Disney theme from 101 Dalmatians to Lady and the Tramp to Hotel for Dogs, and more. Black and white is a good color scheme for a dog-themed bedroom. Add splashes of primary colors in the way of stuffed animals, crib sheets and rugs. Make little paw prints across the wall using cling-on art (this allows for easy removal later) and go a little dog crazy.
For fans of a more classic set of stuffed animals, there’s always Winnie the Pooh with a sprinkle of Peter Pan. Peter Pan is ideal for young boys, but for girls there’s the new twist on the Peter Pan story with Tinker Bell and the fairies of Pixie Hollow. Unlike Disney Princesses, the Disney Fairies strongly favor green and purple, giving parents different color options for little girls. Disney Fairies also allows for more nature art, richer textures and wood grains in the decorating ideas. Decorating a baby room with Disney is limited only by the imagination.
