2017 Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Mother’s Day is coming up. Maybe it’s the one day a year you really feel appreciated. Maybe it’s the one day a year you indulge and buy yourself something special. Or, maybe you’re ready to print out a list or two and hide it in your partner’s work bag!
Gifts are nice, of course, but nothing can beat words on paper. Before handing over a gift or two to mom, make sure your card comes first. Hallmark makes some really beautiful designs, so start there.
Here’s our annual round-up of gifts for different types of mamas!
For Every Mom
There’s only one thing that any mom wants (besides sleep!), and that’s COFFEE. The Keurig Green Mountain K55 Mother’s Day Bundle ($115 – available only on Keurig.com until May 14th) includes their K55 Coffee Maker, a variety pack of Green Mountain Coffee K-Cup pods, a My K-Cup reusable filter and a Rose Quartz travel mug. This is everything a mom needs to start her day, and thanks to the travel mug, keep it going.
For The All-Things-Beauty Mom
Time is of the essence when it comes to getting ready in the morning. Living Proof Perfect hair Day (PhD) In-Shower Styler ($24) is a lifesaver. Trust us. A first-of-its-kind product, moms use it in the shower to help their hair air dry styled. No need for blowdryers or straighteners! Put it on the shower, rinse, air dry on the go. Definitely a must-try!
For the mom who never leaves home without her (red) lipstick, the Osmosis Colour Red Lip Kit ($70) is perfect for her. It features a lip brush, Sangria Lip Pencil, Sassy Lipstick, Lust Lip Glaze and Translucent Finishing Powder.
Give mom the gift of a spa-quality pedicure in the comfort of her own home with the Amope Pedi Perfect Electronic Foot File ($25). It contains finely ground diamond crystals to super exfoliate and extend the life of a pedicure.
Help mom relax in her haven: the tub. Detoxifying Bath Soak by Nicole Granato ($15) is a healthy mix of epsom salt to restore your body of magnesium and Rhassoul clay to detox it. Perfect way to end the *long* day.
Only a mom knows the true need for a good night’s sleep. The iluminage Skin Rejuvenating Eye Mask ($35) is satin-soft and woven with copper-infused fibers. In as little as four weeks, it’s done wonders in reducing the appearance of wrinkles for younger-looking (and not as tired!) skin.
For The Tech-Savvy Mom
Moms know that sound machines can be just the trick to get their little babies to fall asleep peacefully (and stay that way). While Sound+Sleep SE ($150) can be used for kids, consider it an indulgence for a mom. Unlike other machines, it uses naturally recorded, high-def sounds that aren’t on a loop. It also automatically raises the volume to mask out noises if it suddenly gets loud. (That means it’s definitely dad’s turn to tend to the baby!)
The Galaxy Tab S3 ($600) is great for a tech-lover to use on-the-go, or at home. While pricey, the tablet provides a cinema-like experience with 4K video playback and a Super AMOLED display. Speakers are on point and with an enhanced S pen, mom can be more productive and creative. (Moms, now you just have to make sure no one in the family takes it from you!)
The Kuvee wine system ($200) combines this mama’s love of tech with her love of wine. It launches on May 1, so be one of the first families to own it. Kuvee keeps wine fresh for 30 days, allowing mom to have several bottles open at once and drink by the glass. The Wi-Fi connected dispenser, dubbed the Netflix of wine, recommends other wines you should try!
Getting tech in the kitchen, moms can consider Oliso ($500), a SmartHub slow cooker and stove top. It can be used for a variety of things like Sous Vide, infusions, soups, stocks, poaching and even brewing beer!
For The Posh Mom
We’re loving the Mollie Cross-Body Convertible Clutch ($155) by CoFi Leathers. Just as the name suggests, the Mollie goes from cross-body to clutch in two seconds flat. The unique design adds function to an already fabulous design. For the more Boho-Posh Mom, JOYN’s All Leather Satchel ($118) is a full grain leather bag that just screams chic. If there’s a particularly Philanthropic-Posh mom, consider Miracle Babies’ (MB) Tote Bags ($95). The vegan leather (yes, there’s such a thing) tote comes with a cross-body pouch and is exceptionally adorable. But wait … there’s more. Proceeds from the bags help fun Project MB, which helps babies in the NICU through financial assistance. Look great and feel good at the same time? It’s a win-win for sure.
Since mom can’t always find time for herself, let the time come to her…in the form of a massage. Soothe provides a licensed and certified massage therapist to your home, office, or hotel room. The best part is you don’t have to plan well in advance (which every mom knows is nearly impossible!). WIth as little as an hour notice, have someone ready to treat you with a Swedish, Deep Tissue, Sports and even Prenatal massage. They’ll even do couples. Book 24/7 for an appointment between 8:00 a.m. and midnight. (Prices vary)
Posh mamas need their “me” time to relax and rejuvenate. Bring the award-winning spa right to their home with Golden Door’s Peel-A-Way Masque ($68). Made with a unique blend of ingredients like Yogurtene and AquaCell, the mask refreshes the skin, making it feel more alive and renewed.
For the big spenders of the group, World’s Best provides a swanky online shopping experience, complete with a concierge service. Shop the finest watches, fashion, jewelry and home goods. When you think of perfectly curated luxury products, you’re thinking World’s Best.
For The Foodie Mom
RedVelvet NYC, available throughout the country, is a DIY dessert delivery kit that provides the mom who loves to bake a boutique of tastes right to her door. Mom can do this on her own or with the help of the family. RedVelvet gives you everything you need to create chic and trendy desserts. You can even sign up for a monthly subscription. (Prices vary)
Mmmmm…caviar! Any true foodie mom has a taste for the delicacy. Khavyar is an online destination that lets you shop for various types of caviar (all about that Beluga!) and different price points. Looks like mother’s day brunch is complete! (Prices vary)
If you want to play it safe, Harry and David never disappoints. Their Organic Fruit-of-the-Month Club Collection gives moms a new handpicked fruit that’s grown and harvested and delivered fresh to their door. (Prices vary)
To make some nights easier on mom, consider a HelloFresh gift card. The meal delivery service helps get delicious and nutritious meals on the table in no time. They take care of all the hard (annoying) parts like planning, shopping and prepping. They send all that mom (or c’mon…maybe dad?) needs to simply cook and enjoy.
For The Traveling Mom
Hedegren bags are making their debut in the U.S. and they couldn’t be more excited. The Belgian brand offers suitcases, backpacks, totes and other travel-buddies. The RFID blocking technology makes sure moms digital info and data is secure. If this type of suitcase is up your alley, check out AWAY as well. It has a higher price point, but has some really awesome features like a built-in battery that can charge a smartphone up to five times during a trip. (Prices vary)
When you are traveling you definitely want comfort but don’t want to skimp on style. Say hello to Off The Beaten Track’s Bee Cave in Pewter sandals! These chic wedges are a go-to for style and casual fashion.
Birdies ($140) is a chic line of slippers that cross style with comfort, a rarity. For any traveling mom, Birdies are great to wear on the plane, or to pack to use in their hotel room. Thanks to their rubber soles, the versatility of the slipper makes it a great multipurpose gift.
A mom’s most coveted possessions (besides her family, right?) are her handbags and her shoes. Thanks to Shoe Shag ($24), the traveling mama can keep her Jimmy Choos protected at all times. The colorful, stretchable and washable shoe bag is a necessary accessory for any suitcase.
No trip is complete without a good book. Motherhood Is A B#ITCH!: 10 Steps to Regaining Your Sanity, Sexiness, and Inner Diva ($20) by Lyss Stern is this year’s modern mom’s bible. She shares all the ways it’s possible for a woman to maintain her style and confidence throughout the stressfulness of parenting.
So … what’d you decide on?
