Toy of the Week: LeapFrog’s Tag Reading System
We love toys that keep kids busy and quiet -- especially while on the road. Well, just in time for holiday travels, we tested out LeapFrog's Tag Reading System. This portable, pen-shaped system fits in the palm of a child’s hand and brings specially encoded books to life for early readers, guiding them through a learning adventure. Designed for kids four to eight, the "magic pen" (as my son calls it) reads letters, words and symbols as it glides over them. Kids can choose to hear the entire story aloud, hear it read line-by-line or even individual words.
And, by connecting the device to a computer, parents can view their child's progress on LeapFrog's Learning Path and access more content to support their needs and interests.
The Tag library includes classic favorites like Olivia, Fancy Nancy, and The Little Engine that Could as well as titles based on popular characters like Sponge Bob, Go Diego Go! and Kung Fu Panda.
Within just a few weeks, my 4-year old was starting to recognize words and read on his own! Definitely a must-have for little ones with the reading bug.
$49.99 at LeapFrog.com. Additional books are $13.99.
