BradReese Witherspoon isn’t the only celeb parent helping out with American Idol’s yearly charity project. Celebudad Brad Pitt will be featured on the show as well for his efforts to help rebuild housing for families who lost everything in 2005’s Hurricane Katrina. This weekend, Brad came to Hollywood’s Kodak Theater for his part of the taping. Naturally, the crowd went wild when the actor took the stage. The female production members weren’t immune to Brad, either.
While trying to record an introduction of a clip, the actor’s microphone wasn’t working. When Idol stage manager Debbie McVickers rushed up to see what was wrong, and hurried to fix the mic, she joked to the crowd, “I just needed a reason to touch him.” Then, according to People magazine, a female production assistant returned to make sure the mic was properly affixed to Brad’s shirt?, Debbie joked again, “We need more women to touch him.” Finally, the problem was solved and the show went on.

Last year, the inaugural Idol Gives Back campaign raised more than $75 million for domestic and international charities. The show has already exceeded that amount thanks to a $200-million pledge by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown who, via a taped message, said the country would pay for 20 million mosquito nets for African families in need. Be sure to tune in on Wednesday night to see Brad, Reese Witherspoon, and performances by Carrie Underwood, John Legend, Annie Lennox, Gloria Estefan and Mariah Carey.
