Hollywood’s Hep A Scare Effects Celebumoms

Moore FamilyNow Demi Moore has a new scare tactic for keeping her club-happy daughter Rumer out of the Hollywood social scene—infectious disease. Demi and her boyfriend Ashton Kutcher were out celebrating his 30th birthday at Socialista in New York City last week and later discovered they had been exposed to Hepatitis A. One of the bartenders at the bash apparently was infected with the disease and attendees, including Madonna, Bruce Willis, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Salma Hayek, have all been urged to get vaccinations immediately.

Many of those infected are celebumoms and dads, so my question is, what about these stars’ little ones? Salma and Gwyneth both have small children at home, however kids are required to get immunized for hepatitis B, not A. These moms might want to get vaccinations for their children as well to curb the risk of contracting the disease. (Though, the hep A vaccine is not available for children under one year, like Salma’s Valentina.)

Thankfully, the disease is not typically life-threatening and doesn’t lead to long-term illness like other forms of hepatitis. According to Web MD, hepatitis A goes away on its own in most cases. Drinking lots of water and eating a healthy mix of foods helps speed up the process and most people
get well in a few months.
