Jen Garner Named West Virginian of the Year

2007 has been quite a year for Jennifer Garner, mom to Violet, 2. Her performances, as a hopeful mom in "Juno," and as Roxane in Broadway¹s "Cyrano de Bergerac," have earned her rave reviews, but this hard-working mama is getting kudos not only from the critics, but also from her own home state.

She was bestowed the honor this year, "for her dedication, work ethic and unique role as role model and ambassador for West Virginia," according to her hometown paper, the Charleston's Sunday Gazette-Mail.

Jen first moved to West Virginia when she was four years old, in 1976, her mother, Pat Garner, told the Gazette-Mail, "She's pretty passionate about her love of West Virginia. She just considers it home." To show her appreciation for the honor, Jen penned an email to the paper, noting what makes West Virginia special to her. "I like to do the things that are familiar. I like to see people I grew up with. I always go to Taylor Books. I love going home to my church -­ Christ Church United Methodist. I probably visit a Dairy Queen, and I love the farmer's market."

Nicole Kidman—NOT Pregnant Says Rep

Nicole Kidman's publicist has shot down rumors that the Oscar-winning star is pregnant. "It is incorrect," the spokeswoman tells the Melbourne Herald Sun. "She must have had about 30 babies by now (based on the recurring rumors). It's the silly season. As far as we're concerned, it's another rumor out of London."

The rumors began with the U.K.'s Daily Mail, which said actress had told friends and family members over Christmas that she and her husband of 18 months, crooner Keith Urban, were expecting their first child together.

An unnamed "friend" quoted in the paper is steadfast in her belief that Nicole is indeed three months pregnant. A pregnancy for Nicole doesn't seem too far-fetched, as Nicole recently divulged her desire to add to her brood, which includes daughter Isabella, 15, and son Connor, 12.

"I'm yearning to have one," she told Vanity Fair in September. "I think I would be very sad if I wasn't able to have a baby. Keith knows I want one, and he has been getting there slowly."

For now, however, this one appears to just be another pesky pregnancy rumor.

It’s A Girl for Gymnast Dominique Moceanu

Olympic gold-winning gymnast Dominique Moceanu and her husband, Dr. Michael Canales, welcomed daughter Carmen Noel Canales, on Christmas Day. Carmen is their first child and was born at Cleveland's MacDonald Women's Hospital. Dominique told People magazine, "The miracle of baby Carmen being born on Christmas Day makes this wonderful time all the more special to us. This is the best Christmas present we could have ever received!"

Dominique, now 26, became a household name in 1996 when she competed, and won the gold medal, at the summer Olympics as part of the U.S. women's gymnastics team (aptly nicknamed the Magnificent Seven). Her hubby Michael, 30, is also a former gymnast and practices podiatric surgery in Cleveland.

Jamie Lynn Spears: Let the Rumors Begin

Did anyone check out OK Magazine's cover story on Jamie Lynn Spears? I got a chance to read it during my Christmas travels and unfortunately, everything in the "exclusive" article was already yesterday's news by the time the mag hit the stands.

Though I did notice that Jamie Lynn and her mom Lynne reported father-to-be Casey Aldrige's age as 18 and claimed the two teenagers were not living together, as Mommywood and other news stories initially reported. Given the 16 to 18 year ratio, Casey cannot be charged with statutory rape, according to state laws in Louisiana, Jamie Lynn's hometown, and California, where she films her Nickelodeon show. As for living together--I certainly hope that was just a rumor! Could you imagine letting your child live with another teenager?

The plot thickens this week: Now that the young star has very publicly announced her unplanned pregnancy and is appearing to be candid about the details, the tabloids are digging up dirt to see what actually isn't being said. This week, Star magazine claims to have the real story on Jamie Lynn's pregnancy, going as far to say that Casey is not the real father of the baby! They claim that the true dad is an older man who would face serious statutory rape charges were his identity leaked. Star also says that Casey is a serial cheater who got a different barely-legal girl pregnant in early 2007. The article uses "sources" to qualify information, so credibility might be a bit questionable.

Though, Star was one of the first to report two other "no way" rumors--Nick and Jessica splitting up and Brad and Angie getting together.
