Modern Mom Tested: Febreze NOTICEables

by Lolita Carrico

Infusing a light, fresh scent into your home without overpowering everyone who walks in the door is easier said than done. Sprays can be too heavy; candles too risky…I’ll either forget about the open flame or the boys will get too curious about it. I’ve tried other options: fancy scent sticks, oil rings and more, but they only seem to work for a few weeks and as far as a long-term coverage.

Febreze NOTICEables is a plug-in air freshener that solves the problem of your nose getting used to scents in our homes by alternating between two complimentary fragrances. The unit comes with a cartridge featuring two oils – I love the Lavender / Vanilla combo – which easily snaps into the plug-in base. With both a low and high setting, you can customize the strength of the coverage and an indicator light toggles between scents so you know which is “active.”

I put the unit to the test where we needed it most – in the kitchen / family room: our open floor plan means they’re basically the same room and not only can it take on everyday odors from the kitchen, but because the family room is home to our lovable but stinky hamster, we sometimes get that lingering, stale “pet” smell. The NOTICEables plug-in definitely did the trick to keep odor under control without the telltale air-freshener cover-up. One unit lasted about a month (on the low setting) and I “noticed” the scent pretty much each day.

Febreze NOTICEables - $7.99 for starter unit; $4.99 for refill cartidges.
