The web can be an overwhelming place. With the clock ticking, you've got to get some shopping in, check in on your favorite sites and maybe find some new ones all while the kids are napping, during your lunch break or before you turn in for the night. We recently stumbled upon some fabulous new (or, at least, new to us) sites that make browsing so much more efficient for time-deprived surfers.
1. RetailMeNot - Do not --I repeat DO NOT-- shop online before visiting RetailMeNot.com. This site collects coupon and discount codes for more than 10,000 online retailers and organizes them in a quick, searchable interface that makes it easy to save money on pretty much anything you want to buy. Just yesterday, I found a 40% off code for Victoria's Secret, $25 off at Amazon.com, 15% off at American Eagle and 20% off at Aerosoles.com. Plus, you can download their browser extension that alerts you of available codes when you visit a participating site.
2. Alltop - The latest from web guru Guy Kawasaki, Alltop.com is exactly like what it sounds: a site that collects headlines from the top sources on the web -- Modern Mom among them
-- and aggregates them on clean, category specific pages. We of course love the Moms site, but also found lots to keep us occupied in Egos, Wine and Green.
3. sk*rt - Dubbed "Digg for Chicks," sk*rt is just that. Founded by three women who decided to create an online hub for all the information that they actually cared about...like Arts & Entertainment, Family & Parenting, Fashion, Travel, and more...sk*rt features popular links from members and content found by their panel of in-the-know editors.
