“Family-Friendly” Sex Shop?
Fox News featured a new sex shop that opened in Brooklyn, NY over the weekend that markets itself as "family-friendly." The bright, modern Babeland features "upbeat music, well-dressed saleswomen and infant changing tables" in the hipster Park Slope neighborhood next to a maternity clothing store.
Owner Claire Cavanah aims to make women feel empowered, not embarrassed, she says.
“Here we’re really trying to
sort of greet everyone where they are sexually.” This means everything
from a “Sexy Moms Series” for mothers looking to spice up their sex
lives to plenty of products for those looking to experience some
bonding — or bondage.
It's too early to tell if
some of the open-minded Brooklyn residents would in time object to some
of the more colorful of Cavanah's past clientele that may be traipsing
through — like one man whose reported fetish was to come to her other
store dressed as an infant wearing a cloth diaper, sucking on a
pacifier and clutching a rattle.

I completely agree with the above. Fun and very open minded. Really, if you object to such a store, simply don’t go. It’s not like it actually looks like they are trying to sell dildos and porn, the front looks quite the opposite, happy women and bright color. Not everyone thinks/acts/lives the same. I would MUCH prefer a sex themed store where the sales person(s) dressed tastefully, where the decor isn’t so dim, and where I would feel more comfortable shopping for these types of things, especially knowing I won’t be tailed by some creep.
I dont beleive children and sex come together ok - it just makes me think of perverts
I think it would be a fun outing for the husband and I. We have a great love life...but could always use a new adventure. Depending on the products they sold would be the big factor for me taking my child in there. On one hand it could be an excellent conversation starter on the other hand it could expose her to stuff that is way to risque. By the way...I’m a big liberal down here in the south...from Texas. I can only imagine the riots and protests that would occur if they opened a store like that down here!!! It would make for good entertainment!
I think its a great idea. If its done tastefully I see nothing wrong with it. Face it in todays times and the rush we need an outlet like this. A way for hubby and you to not have to pay a sitter, and with that savings pick out something for just the two of you. With all the bad news lately, its nice too see someone come up with an original idea. Motherhood is wonderful, but I can honestly say there are days when I feel I’m probably not at my best and feeling a bit overwhelmed. So yeah, why not?

I think this is a fun and open-minded idea… but Oh BOY… I can’t wait to see what ignorant and insecure comments are left. God forbid a child have an understanding of something so natural but the same parents who will freak out about this will probably be the same ones who will take their kids to see some violent new blockbuster film or “kids” show.
