Modern Mom Tested: Yoplait Kids Yogurt and Yogurt Drink

By Lolita Carrico

Yoplait Kids Our lives are hectic – starting in the morning straight through dinner, most moms are rushing through it all. For me, mornings are most stressful as I’m trying to get myself and my two sons ready for work and school, and also preparing breakfasts, packing lunches and making sure I’ve checked everything off our morning to-do lists.

So, testing Yoplait Kids’ new yogurt and yogurt drinks was perfect for those days where we’re running behind and something just has to give. My boys loved the drinks – especially the Strawberry-Banana and Mixed Berry flavors – with a muffin for breakfast and my youngest even wanted another drink with his afterschool snack.

I love that Yoplait Kids contains Omega-3 DHA, a nutrient which helps support healthy brain development in children and that the products have 25% less sugar than the average leading kid’s yogurt.

So, in a rush or not, I know my kids are getting a good start to their day and some of the nutrients they need.

Yoplait Kids – available at supermarkets nationwide. Click here for $1.50 coupon.

We sent coupons to Modern Mom Panel members so they could share their feedback as well. See below for what other moms thought of Yoplait Kids!

My kids love Yoplait kids yogurt.  These make great snacks as well as a quick breakfast.

In my opinion, Yoplait is the best tasting yogurt out on the market. It’s the one my 2 and 6 year old have enjoyed since they were babies. So, to have an opportunity to try the one designed for kids was an easy transition. They love it!  It’s smooth, creamy, yummy and good for their tummies. How can you go wrong!

Yoplait Kids’ Yogurt is a great product! The flavors are kid-friendly; it’s not overly sweet & the texture is just thick enough to hang on the spoon to avoid messes. All in all, a winner! The only complaint I have is that the plastic packaging is not recyclable in our area (we only recycle type 1 & 2 plastics).

Both of my boys love yogurt, and since we are always on the run, I was eager to try this. They both loved the flavor, and the thinner consistency makes it easy to drink from a straw.  A great product! Thanks

Both of my girls love yogurt and the yoplait was no different. They both loved this and even enjoyed spreding it on some graham crackers. I loved that it was thicker and stayed on the spoon, instead of running off. All in all it was a winner for my family!

We have been switching over to organic slowly but surely ~ my daughter LOVES yogurt so I figured she would love yoplait too ~ she ate the first 3 ~ then the next 2 she didn’t want to finish & now I have one left in the fridge that she doesnt want at all :c( Its back to the organic stoneyfeild for us which she wants to eat for breakfast & lunch most days :c) sorry yoplait!

We loved the yogurt.  The entire family loved eating the yogurt for breakfast and in our lunches.  We especially liked the Dora vanilla and strawberry vanilla.  The thickness of the yogurt was appealing easpecially with young children, less mess to clean up.  We truly enjoyed it and look forward to eating it again.

Posted by Kristina Packard on 10/05/2008  at  10:48 AM

My son truly enjoyed the yogurt. He would eat them two at a time.  I had to stop him from sitting down and eating the whole package at once. I wouldn’t have minded though knowing it was good for him.

The drinkable yogurt is a huge hit in our house!  I have to ration it or they would guzzle it!  I just snicker, knowing that it is healthy and good for them.  We just stick a small hole in the top of the lid and then stick a straw in it and even the 2 year old is master of her own Yoplait!

Posted by girlzmama2002 on 10/05/2008  at  12:28 PM

My son loved the drinkable yogurt.  We normally get regular yogurt but with the coupon, he wanted to try something different.  I wasn’t so sure he would like it but he did.  Thanks MM for giving me the chance to introduce my kiddo to something new. =)

Posted by Sandra Cheung on 10/05/2008  at  12:34 PM

my girls loved the drinkable yogurt. i usually buy Gogurt but they loved this. it was kind of like a healthy milkshake and - this is no lie - they were all gone in a half hour! yes i will buy these again.

Posted by kerri renner on 10/05/2008  at  12:37 PM

My daughter loves yogurt and she really liked the strawberry. I also feel good about her eating it! Thanks MM for the chance to test this product!

My kids and I loved the strawberry vanilla! We had it for breakfast and lunch.

I’m so glad we got to test Yoplait Kids Yogurt and Drink. The whole family loved it. Besides Mom and Dad, we have 1, 10, and 14 year olds. Kids always love bananas and when you mix these fruits in a yogurt drink it is so good for them. A lot of the fruit juices or drinks are too acidy or don’t have the vitamins or our kids just don’t like the taste. I always buy Yoplait, and I hope they keep this around for a while, especially for our family. Thanks to Modern Mom for sending us this great coupon so we can try it out.

Yoplait kids is wholesome and nutritious.
*It has 25% less sugar than most kids yogurt.
*It provides brain building Omega-3 DHA.
*It has Vitamin D which helps with Calcium absorption and lots of more...!!

Posted by Assia Mihova on 10/05/2008  at  01:34 PM

We loved the Dora and Diego drinkable yogurt!  Thanks, Yoplait. My son likes to bring in to school in his lunchbox with a straw to poke through the top—no mess and a nice boost of calcium. My 14-month-old just stopped nursing and has refused to drink anything that resembles milk—and we’ve tried cow’s milk, soy milk, rice milk and even almond milk! Flavored or unflavored, she refuses to drink milk. But, she LOVES these drinkables. Pop a straw through the top, and the whole thing disappears. We’ll definitely keep buying this product.

my sons really liked the strawberry banana-flavored yogurt. and the sizes are just right for little kids.

Posted by sandra kao on 10/05/2008  at  02:01 PM

This was so fun to test! My children loved it and I loved it too. Of course, having their favorite characters on the bottles really helped a lot. The kids could not get enough and asked for more.

We would definitely buy them again and actually already have purchased them.

Thanks!

My 4 year old goes back and forth with liking the yogurt. It has something to do with the thickness. My 18 month old on the other hand consistently loves the thick yogurt. She can eat it easily by herself. They both love the drinks.

Posted by Heather Miller on 10/05/2008  at  03:24 PM

All three of my kids loved these. They were gone the same day I bought them. I had to buy more! They love the drinks and the cups. It must be the colors or the kid friendly cups, because the older two won’t eat regular Yoplait.

Posted by crazyrodriguezes on 10/05/2008  at  03:36 PM

my son loves these!! The drinks are so easy for him to get out of the fridge by himself and open! The cups are great too - he begs me to have more than one a day!!

Posted by sarahc23 on 10/05/2008  at  04:33 PM

my kids loved these! i have to say i snuck a bite when they weren’t looking! it is so good love the strawberry vanilla. cute packaging and jus the right size, great way to get the kids to eat heathly!

Posted by GREENEYEDBARBIE on 10/05/2008  at  05:02 PM

My kids loved the drinkable yoplait. We usually buy go-gurt but I liked the containers of the drinkable, it seemed like the kids got all the yogurt out, unlike the go-gurts. We will buy these again!

Posted by Danielle Bursk on 10/05/2008  at  07:53 PM

My kids really enjoy these drinks.  The flavors are their favorites and they ask for this over unhealthy drinks.  I like the just right size and fun container.

Posted by dolores47 on 10/06/2008  at  09:15 AM

My kids ask for yogurt everytime we go to the store.  Yoplait is by far their favorite brand. They enjoy the yogurt drinks, go-gurts and spoonable yogurts.  I don’t feel as guilty giving them something nutritious as a snack.  It’s a win-win situation really.

Posted by Allison Dogaer on 10/06/2008  at  09:39 AM

I got the yoplait yogurt drinks.  My daughter loves them.  She isn’t crazy about drinking milk.  So the yogurt drinks are a great way to get her some more calcium.  I got the strawberry flavor.

Posted by Kelly Anondson on 10/06/2008  at  09:50 AM

My girls love yogurt.  Yoplait is probably their favorite.

Posted by Kathy Everman on 10/06/2008  at  04:43 PM

I have three boys and they all love yogurt.  Needless to say, they loved this one and it didn’t even last one day.

Posted by asjungle on 10/06/2008  at  05:04 PM

This was a great product! My kids REALLY loved it! It was the perfect size, very convenient, and tasty, too! I was very glad that my kids found a healthy, wholesome snack that we could both agree on! smile

Posted by Adrianna Thimons KBJC on 10/06/2008  at  08:19 PM

My boys used to LOVE this yogurt. They are now six and ten and will not eat it anymore because they think it is “too babyish.” They now love Yoplait Trix yogurt and Gogurts. This is a wonderful product for younger children.

Posted by bbsfnlg on 10/07/2008  at  02:28 PM

Both my 5 and 9 year old loved it be bought the yoplait Dora one as both my girls love her.

Posted by Candice Trinidad on 10/07/2008  at  03:26 PM

This is the only yogurt my son would eat.  He loves it.  He is currently 17 months old and thinks it is dessert.  He has it every night after dinner.

Posted by Lacey Blackburn on 10/07/2008  at  04:29 PM

My 4 YO wouldn’t even try it (but that’s the phase he’s going through right now).  However, you could hear a steady chorus of “Mmm mmm mmm mmm” coming from my 2 YO the entire time he was drinking it.

I wish that Yoplait would use organic milk (or at least milk without RbGH).

Something to note:  the drinkable yogurt would not be suitable for vegetarians as it contains gelatin.

Posted by CJStewart on 10/07/2008  at  07:31 PM

My Grandkids really enjoyed drinkable yogurt I put it in fridge and that was last i saw of it. Except empty carton in the trash. A quick get up and go for football and cheerleader practice.

Posted by bigdog2 on 10/07/2008  at  08:04 PM

The yogurt drink is a great morning snack for my 3 yr old who wants to eat constantly these days. I feel good about giving him snack that is healthy and giving him a serving of dairy at the same time.

Posted by Jody Long on 10/07/2008  at  09:08 PM

My kids love the drinkables and it is easy to take with you.

Posted by Angela Koga on 10/09/2008  at  04:25 PM

My 2,4 and 5 year old ALL love this yogurt. It is the only one that they actually will eat. and, the packaging is cute. At least, that is what my 4 year old says.

Posted by Teresa Hemsworth on 10/21/2008  at  01:25 PM

My kids love this yogurt and I will continue to buy more. It is healthy and easy to take with us on the go.

Posted by libby3360@yahoo.com on 10/21/2008  at  01:25 PM

My kids ate the Yoplait Kids yogurt all up.  They love the bright colors and being able to mix them.  The yogurt is super smooth and tasty.

Posted by Renee Lee on 10/21/2008  at  01:26 PM

My kids asked for me to buy it again. Very good

Posted by Susan Hao on 10/21/2008  at  01:29 PM

Our kids love this stuff.  It’s great as a healthy snack or desert.  It’s great extra chilled with some sliced fresh bananas and strawberries.  Our kids want it everyday and we feel good giving them Yoplait Kids Yogurt as a healthy treat.

Posted by Kapri McKenzie on 10/21/2008  at  01:36 PM

My three kids love this yogurt.  It is so convenient to take when on the go.  I just bring a few straws and stick them into the foil cover and there you have a great snack when on the go!  Love the flavors and the less sugar content is great.

Posted by Tasha Green on 10/21/2008  at  01:41 PM

My 4 year old son loves these.  He usually has one with his lunch everyday.  If he doesn’t have it at lunch, it is usually for a snack sometime else that day.  The straw works great with it.

Posted by Kelly Beichner on 10/21/2008  at  01:47 PM

My girls love the yogurt though I must admit I wish they had more flavor options/combinations.  The girls love the peach, but not the strawberry and I can’t find one without the other.  Thanks for the opportunity to try them!

Posted by mel on 10/21/2008  at  02:33 PM

2 out of the three of my kids liked these they are quick easy and nutritious!

Posted by sheri wright gBZl on 10/21/2008  at  02:42 PM

I have two little ones, aged 4 and 1.  My one year old loved the yogurt and it was perfect for her because the thicker consistency made it easier for her to get on her spoon (or at least less messy when she grabbed a handful!).  My 4 yr old, on the other hand, hated it for that reason.  Every time he tried it he commented that “it’s too thick, Mom.” A couple other posters mentioned they’d like to see more flavors and I totally agree with that.  Overall, it was good but probably not something I’d spend that much $$ on regularly.

Posted by lauralouhoney on 10/21/2008  at  03:16 PM

All of the kids love the yoplait yogert

Posted by Echo Conner on 10/21/2008  at  04:09 PM

My boys like yogurt and wanted to try the drinkable kind.  They didn’t like it for whatever reason.  I’ll stick to Yoplait regular…

Posted by Patti Jergerian on 10/21/2008  at  04:25 PM

Kids loved the little smoothie in their lunch. It seemed like such a “treat”...quick, tasty and healthy...a winner in our house!

Posted by Traci White on 10/21/2008  at  05:13 PM

My Daughter just loves the yogurt and having Dora on the bottle is a bonus. My only word of caution is that I punch through the foil with a straw to make it easier for my toddler to drink from without the added spills.

Posted by Niceven on 10/21/2008  at  11:56 PM

My boys (8 and 5) loved this yogurt.

Posted by Trudy Umphress on 10/22/2008  at  12:37 AM

We loved the yogurt and my kids especially loved the Dora and Diego characters.

Posted by Danielle Garcia on 10/22/2008  at  01:39 AM

My kids loved the yougurt.  I wish they sold the packest all in one flavor and had more flavor options.

Posted by Jessica Taber on 10/25/2008  at  07:55 PM

My kids really didn’t like it too much.  I think they tasted okay but neither one was too excited about the consistancy.  After the first drink they never wanted to try it again.  I tried it and it was really good.
