Real Style with Liz Lange
Dear Liz Lange - I need help color coordinating. I love colorful pieces, but can never figure out how to mix and match colors without having a neutral (black, beige, white) solid piece to compliment it. I feel like when I try to mix a colorful top with a colorful bottom, it looks tacky. Any advice on how to make it work stylishly? - Kim in Los Angeles
Liz Lange says, Mixing and matching colors is tough. I'm a big fan of wearing one color (albeit and tasteful one!) head to toe. It's what I like to call the "dipped look" and it's flattering, slimming and chic. When I wear bright colors, like the Pucci-inspired skirts I love, I often go for a more understated color on top. If there's a color I like running through the pattern and it works with my skin tone, I'll wear that as an alternative. I'd recommend only one really bright piece in your outfit, whether that be a dress, a top or a bottom. Color combos I do love include yellow and navy, white and turquoise and light blue and chocolate brown.
